How to use the wedding drinks calculator
- Enter Day guests (wedding breakfast) and Extra evening-only guests.
- Choose your Welcome drink on arrival, Fizz for the toast and Evening reception length (hours).
- Pick a preset such as Typical UK wedding or adjust the drinkers' percentages to total 100%.

Wedding Drinks Calculator: common questions
What does the drinks calculator work out?
It estimates the wine, beer and cider, spirits, fizz and soft drinks to order for the whole day, covering the welcome drink, the meal, the toast and the evening reception. It uses common UK catering ratios, such as about half a bottle of wine per wine drinker with the meal, and gives a rough cost guide.
Can I change the mix of drinkers?
Yes. Choose a preset such as Typical UK wedding, Wine-loving crowd, Beer & cider crowd or Big mixed bar, or adjust the wine, beer and cider, spirits and soft drinks percentages yourself. The total should add up to 100%. Change my numbers takes you back to adjust anything and recalculate.
Are my guest numbers stored or sent anywhere?
No. The figures are calculated in your browser and are not saved or sent automatically. Copy my drinks list and Print / Save as PDF are the ways to keep a record. Send this to Tim opens a draft in your own email app, so nothing goes anywhere unless you choose to send it.
Should I buy drinks on sale or return?
Sale or return is worth asking about, as it lets you over-order without paying for unopened stock. The page also suggests checking corkage if you are bringing your own drinks to the venue. Ask what glassware and chilling are included, as these can affect how much you need to supply.
Tim’s tip
Keep plenty of water and soft drinks within easy reach of the dance floor. Guests who are dancing want something cold quickly, and a long bar queue empties the floor.
