DJ Hire Ipswich: Weddings, Parties & Events with Tinsel Tim
Looking for DJ hire in Ipswich? I’m Tim Daymond, known as Tinsel Tim, a DJ since 1976. Over the years I’ve played the Corn Exchange, the Town Hall and the waterfront hotels, and I still take Suffolk weddings and parties, DJ’d by me in person.

An Ipswich DJ with history
I’ll be straight with you: my base is in Sutton Bridge, about two hours’ drive from Ipswich, so I’m not the DJ round the corner. But Ipswich isn’t new to me. Earlier in my career I played many of the town’s best-known rooms, from the Corn Exchange and the Town Hall to the hotels on the waterfront and out at Copdock.
What you get today is 50 years of experience, one person who handles your booking from the first call to the last song, and a business approved by Norfolk County Council Trading Standards. I’m also listed in Suffolk County Council’s wedding supplier directory (opens in a new tab). For a wedding or a big celebration, that’s worth the drive. Living closer to the Norfolk border? My Thetford page covers Brandon and the Suffolk villages nearby.

Ipswich venues I’ve played over the years
Some of these go back a good few years, but they’re all rooms I’ve set up in and played.
- Ipswich Corn Exchange
- Ipswich Town Hall
- Salthouse Harbour Hotel, the waterfront
- Novotel Ipswich Centre
- Holiday Inn Ipswich Orwell
- The Ipswich Hotel, Copdock
- Belstead Brook Hotel
- Sports clubhouses: rugby, cricket and football
And halls and venues in Kesgrave (the Millennium Jubilee Hall), Martlesham, Woodbridge, Felixstowe, Claydon, Coddenham (the Coddenham Centre), Needham Market, Stowmarket and Hadleigh.
Booking a DJ who travels to Ipswich
If your DJ is coming from further afield, these are the things worth knowing. Here’s how I handle each one.
Arriving in good time
My Early Arrival Guarantee means I’m set up and soundchecked at least two hours before your first guest arrives. I plan the drive around that, not the other way round.
No surprises on price
Your quote is based on your date, your hours and your venue, and it’s confirmed in writing before you pay anything. A 45% deposit secures the date.
Venue paperwork
Most Ipswich hotels and clubs will want to see a supplier’s cover before the day. My £10 million Public Liability Insurance and PAT test records go straight to your venue on request.
One person to talk to
No agency in the middle. You plan the music with me, you call me with questions, and I’m the one behind the decks on the night.
From Kesgrave to Hadleigh
Beyond the town itself, these are the places around Ipswich where I’ve played.
Kesgrave and Martlesham
Just east of the town, with the Millennium Jubilee Hall in Kesgrave among the halls I’ve set up in.
Woodbridge and Felixstowe
Out towards the coast, from the riverside town of Woodbridge to Felixstowe by the sea.
Needham Market and Stowmarket
Up the A14 into Mid Suffolk, with Claydon and the Coddenham Centre on the way.
Hadleigh
West of Ipswich, the market town where I’ve played too.
Tim at work
Real nights and real guests, including Selfie Pod parties at Suffolk events.

DJ hire in Ipswich: your questions
Booking & prices
How much does DJ hire in Ipswich cost?
Weddings start at £525 and full ceremony-to-evening cover is £1,950. Birthdays, anniversaries and Boogie Bingo nights start at £450, and children’s parties at £225.
How far ahead should I book?
As early as you can. Summer Saturdays and December go first, and your date is only reserved once the deposit is paid.
Can I spread the cost?
Yes. After the deposit, you can pay the balance in one go or in interest-free monthly instalments, which many wedding couples prefer.
Can the Selfie Pod be branded for our event?
Yes. It can show your own welcome screen, with props and stickers to match. It’s £375 on its own, or less in a bundle, and guests get their photos on their phones on the night.
Your venue & the night
What if my venue has a sound limiter?
Tell me in advance and I’ll plan the set-up and levels around it, so the night isn’t cut short.
Can you play for every age group?
Yes. Party music from the 1950s to today, and I read the room as the night goes on so every generation gets its moment.
Do you use other DJs on busy dates?
No. I play every booking myself and I’ve never missed one. If I’m already booked on your date, I’ll tell you straight away.
Do you bring your own lighting?
Yes. Full sound and lighting come with every package, so all I need from your venue is a standard power socket and space to set up safely.
