Questions
Supplier Booking Timeline: common questions
Who is the supplier booking timeline for?
It is for newly engaged couples who know their date, or are weighing up dates, and want to know which suppliers to book first. It covers the venue, photographer, videographer, dress or suit, DJ or evening entertainment, florist, cake, hair and make-up trial and transport, in a typical UK booking order.
What do the labels on each supplier mean?
Each supplier gets a book-by date counted back from your wedding date. Book urgently means that date has already passed, Book soon means it is within the next 30 days, and You have time means it is further off. If you have a short engagement, start with the urgent ones and contact several suppliers at once.
Is my wedding date saved or shared?
No. The date is only used in your browser to work out the timeline and is not saved, so you will need to enter it again if you reload the page. The page does not send it anywhere. The email link opens your own email app with the timeline written out, and nothing is sent unless you send it.
Which wedding suppliers should we book first?
The venue usually comes first because it fixes your date, then suppliers who can only take one booking per day, such as the photographer and the DJ. Suppliers who can take several jobs a day, or work closer to the date, like the cake maker and transport, can usually follow later.
Tim’s tip
Once the venue is confirmed, book the suppliers who can only be in one place on your date, such as the photographer and DJ. Ask the venue at the same time about any sound limits or finish times, as they affect your entertainment choice.
Is the DJ on your list?
