    Questions

Wedding Sunset & Golden Hour Finder: common questions

    What is golden hour?

It's the time when the sun is low, just before sunset, and the light is soft and warm. It's the most flattering light for couple photos, which is why photographers ask about it.

When should we do our couple photos?

Many couples slip out for 15 to 20 minutes during golden hour, after the meal. The finder shows the exact times for your date and town.

When is it dark enough for a sparkler send-off?

Usually around half an hour after sunset. The finder shows the time it's properly dark for your date. Always check the venue allows sparklers.

    Are the times accurate?

They are worked out from the sun's position with standard astronomical formulas and shown in UK time. They can be a minute or two out, and hills or tall trees can hide the sun a little earlier.

    Tim’s tip

Let your DJ know when you're slipping out for golden hour photos. The music can keep everyone happy while you're gone, then welcome you back.
