Questions
Invitation Wording Generator: common questions
Who is the invitation wording generator for?
It is for couples who want correctly phrased UK wedding invitation wording without starting from a blank page. It handles different hosting arrangements, including the couple, one partner's family or both families, and changes the opening line to match. It also covers full-day and evening-only invitations and adds a line for your children's policy.
How do I get the wording onto my invitations?
The wording updates live as you fill in the form. When you are happy, press Copy wording and paste it into your stationery design, a printing company's template or an email to your stationer. Print gives you a paper copy to check, and Email this draft to myself opens a draft in your own email app.
Are the names and details I type saved?
No. Everything you type is used inside your browser to build the wording and is not saved to your device's storage or sent to any server, so it is cleared when you close or reload the page. Email this draft to myself only opens a draft in your own email app, and nothing is sent unless you send it.
How do I word an adults-only invitation politely?
Keep it short and warm rather than apologetic. Choose Adults only or Immediate family children only in the children's policy option and the wording is added for you. It also helps to repeat the policy on your wedding website or RSVP card, so guests see it more than once before they reply.
Tim’s tip
Get someone who has not seen the invitation before to read the final proof for dates, times and spellings. It is much easier to fix a mistake before the print run than after the invitations are posted.
