Thank You Note Generator: common questions

Who is the thank you note generator for?

It is for newly married couples writing thank you notes after the wedding. Add one guest at a time with their gift or gesture and, if you like, a personal detail or memory from the day. The tool writes a note for each guest in a warm or formal tone and builds up a full list you can work through.

How do I turn the notes into cards?

Use Copy all notes to paste the wording into a document or card design, or Print the list to copy out by hand. Handwritten cards still feel the most personal, so many couples use the generated notes as a draft and add a line or two of their own as they write each card.

Are my notes saved, and is anything sent?

Your tone, sign-off and notes are saved in your browser's local storage on this device, so your list is still there if you come back on the same browser. Nothing is sent to Mobile Disco Network or any server. Clear all removes the saved list, and Email this draft to myself only opens a draft in your own email app.

How soon after the wedding should thank you notes go out?

Aim to send them within about three months of the wedding, and sooner for gifts received beforehand. Working through a few notes each evening is easier than leaving them all to one weekend. Mention the gift by name and, where you can, how you will use it or a moment you shared with that guest on the day.

Tim’s tip

Keep a simple list of who gave what as the gifts and cards are opened, ideally on the night or the next morning. It makes writing personal notes far easier weeks later.
