DJ set up requirements and the night itself
These are Tim's DJ set up requirements, plus answers about arrival times, venues, sound limiters and how the night runs.
Tim’s tip: Ask your venue about its sound limiter and access times before the day, and let me know. I'll plan the set-up around them so nothing cuts the evening short.

On the Night: your questions
How much space and power does the DJ need?
About 2 metres by 2 metres for the DJ booth, plus clear floor space in front for dancing.
Tim needs at least two standard 13-amp sockets, ideally within 5 to 10 metres of where he sets up. In small rooms the lighting can be scaled down, and in big halls it can be scaled up.
How long do you need to set up, and will it disrupt our hotel venue or guests?
I normally allow at least 1.5 hours to carefully install, position, and calibrate my audio setup and LED lighting rig.
I coordinate directly with your venue manager to ensure this setup process takes place completely behind the scenes before your evening guests arrive. This guarantees a clean, elegant presentation with zero exposed wires and no disruptive sound checks while people are talking.
Do I need to provide anything on the day, like power or space?
I bring my own full professional sound and lighting setup to every booking.
All I typically need is access to a standard mains power socket and enough space to set up safely — I'll happily talk through your specific venue in advance.
What happens if your disco equipment breaks down?
I carry a full, matching backup sound system, mixer and lighting rig in my vehicle at every booking.
Why is your registered address in Lincolnshire when you focus on Norfolk?
Tim's head office is in Sutton Bridge, Lincolnshire.
What will my venue need from you?
Most venues ask for public liability insurance and PAT testing.
Do you cover venues outside the city, like Duxford or Ely?
Yes.
Can you play an outdoor party by the sea?
Yes, as long as the music and lights can sit under cover and there’s a safe power supply.
What if my venue has a sound limiter?
Tell me in advance and I’ll plan the set-up and levels around it, so the night isn’t cut short.
Do you bring your own lighting?
Yes.
My venue isn’t on your list. Is that a problem?
Not at all.
Can the lights and volume suit guests who are sensitive to flashing lights or noise?
When do you arrive to set up?
Normally at least two hours before your guests, so the sound, the lighting and a full soundcheck are done before anyone walks in.
How long can my video review be?
Up to 2 minutes.
