Planning tips
Running icebreakers that people enjoy
Use them early
Icebreakers work best in the first half hour, while guests are arriving and before the dancing starts. Have one ready at the door or on the tables so people have something to talk about straight away.
Mix the groups
Pair people who don't know each other, such as family from one side and friends from another. Simple team games with three or four players help shy guests join in without being put on the spot.
Keep it optional
Nobody should feel forced to perform. Choose games where people can play quietly at their table as well as ones for the brave, and keep small prizes ready for winners. For printed cards, try the party games card maker.
Tim’s tip
Run games early in the evening, before the dancefloor gets going, and keep each one short. A game that drags pulls people off the floor rather than onto it.
Rather not run the games yourself?
Let Tim host the fun
Boogie Bingo is Tim’s music bingo game for parties: everyone plays, and you get to join in instead of organising it. Book Tinsel Tim across Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.

Common questions
Will the game suit my group's age range?
The suggestions are built around group size and energy level rather than age, so have a quick read of the instructions to make sure it's the right fit — most can be adapted up or down easily.
Can I see a different game?
Yes — use "Try another game" as many times as you like until you find one that fits your party.
Does the tool save my chosen game?
No, so use "Copy this game" or "Print" to keep a record of the instructions for the night.
