Tim Daymond, Tinsel Tim

Creative wedding photo booth ideas turn an optional extra into the liveliest corner of the reception. I’m Tim Daymond, known professionally as Tinsel Tim. I’ve been a DJ since 1976, and I personally operate the selfie pod at weddings across East Anglia.

So I’ve noticed exactly which activities create queues and which ones guests ignore. Below are my favourite suggestions, plus several free planning tools to help you organise everything.

Choose the Right Style of Booth First

Your booth creates the atmosphere for every photograph. That’s why I offer two open-air selfie pods instead of an enclosed cabinet with a curtain.

  • Vintage Selfie Pod: finished in elegant white, so it complements traditional and countryside weddings.
  • Ring Light Selfie Pod: sleek and modern, so it suits energetic, contemporary celebrations.

Both pods are completely open, so large groups of friends fit comfortably into one picture. Also, every photo is digital, so guests can share them straight away. For packages and set-up details, see my photo booth hire in Norfolk page.

I’m Trading Standards Approved, and the pod comes PAT-tested and covered by £10 million public liability insurance.

Pose Wedding Photo Booth Ideas Guests Love

Many guests hesitate when the countdown begins. So give them a challenge, and the fun starts by itself.

  • The Funny Hat Challenge: who can wear the silliest virtual hat while remaining completely serious?
  • The Superhero Pose-Off: each table sends its best caped hero.
  • Three generations: grandparents, parents and children in one frame.
  • Recreate the kiss: married couples imitate your first kiss as newlyweds.
  • Squad goals: the bridal party poses for one elegant photograph, then one ridiculous one.

Then I announce another pose challenge between dance sets, so the activity continues throughout the evening.

Prop and Theme Wedding Photo Booth Ideas

The pod has lots of digital filters and virtual props built in. So you don’t need an untidy collection of hats and glasses.

Still, a few physical photo booth props add a personal touch. For example, try signs featuring family jokes, your wedding date or “Team Bride” and “Team Groom”. Next, coordinate the colours with your flowers and decorations.

Simply design and print your own accessories with my free Photo Booth Props Maker. A theme helps too, such as a 1920s celebration, a festival atmosphere or your favourite movie.

Personal Touches That Make the Pictures Yours

A custom photo template places your names and wedding date on every frame. As a result, each picture becomes a keepsake of your day.

Also, consider a video guest book. Guests can record a personal video message lasting up to 30 seconds. So instead of a page of signatures, your video guest book captures laughter, toasts and emotional moments.

Plus, a wedding hashtag displayed beside the pod helps you collect every picture afterwards. Try my free Wedding Hashtag Generator for ideas.

Sharing Wedding Photo Booth Ideas That Work

Instant sharing is the greatest advantage of a digital booth. Guests simply scan a QR code or use email to send photographs to their own devices.

  • Photos, GIFs and boomerangs: guests choose whichever format they prefer.
  • Live slideshow: I can display pictures on a large screen, so everybody enjoys them together.
  • Your digital gallery: after the wedding, you receive a link to every photograph.

In fact, many couples open their digital gallery on honeymoon. You’ll discover moments you missed while celebrating with family and friends.

Where and When to Run the Booth

Allow approximately two metres by two metres, so guests have enough room to pose. I always cooperate with your venue to find the ideal position. Above all, the pod never obstructs fire exits or busy walkways.

Tim’s tip: position the pod close to the dance floor, but never on it. Guests wander over between songs, then head straight back to dance.

Most couples open the booth immediately after the first dance. However, an all-day package lets day guests enjoy it during the drinks reception too.

Package Price What you get
Evening + Selfie Pod From £1,150 7pm to midnight disco plus the selfie pod
Premium All Day + Selfie Pod From £1,450 Up to nine hours of music plus the selfie pod
Ultimate Showstopper £1,950 All day, selfie pod all day and a round of Boogie Bingo

For every option, see my wedding DJ packages. Or read my selfie pod prices guide for the full breakdown.

Wedding Photo Booth Ideas: Your Questions

Is the selfie pod digital only?

Yes, it creates digital photographs only. Instead, guests enjoy instant sharing by QR code or email.

Can we add our names to the photos?

Yes, I add your names and wedding date to a custom photo template, so every photograph feels personal.

Do we get copies of every picture?

Yes, after the wedding you receive a private link containing every photograph and video.

How much room does the pod need?

Allow approximately two metres by two metres. Also, I always agree the exact position with your venue beforehand.
