Questions
Speech Teleprompter: common questions
Who is the teleprompter for?
It is for anyone giving a wedding or party speech who would rather not juggle paper: the father of the bride, best man, the couple or a birthday host. You paste your speech, choose a pace from slow and careful to well-rehearsed, and the words scroll in large type.
How do I use it on the day?
Open this page on your phone or tablet before the speeches, check your speech is there and press Start. Tap the words or press Space to pause and carry on, and use the Slower and Faster buttons, or the up and down arrow keys, to change speed.
What is in the full wedding version?
Everything in the free version, plus a one-tap link or QR code to send the speech to a tablet, a follow-my-voice mode, presenter clicker support, yellow [cue] notes such as [pause], importing from Word or PDF, and printable A6 cue cards. It is included free for every couple who books Tinsel Tim for their wedding, and opens from the client portal.
Is my speech private?
Yes. The speech is saved in your own browser as you type and is never uploaded to the website.
How long should a wedding speech be?
Most guests are happiest with speeches of around five minutes each, especially if there are several. Paste your draft and set your normal pace to get a feel for how long it runs, then rehearse it out loud. Trim stories that need too much background, and keep the toast at the end clear and short.
Tim’s tip
Hold the phone at chest height rather than down by your waist so you look up towards the room. Ask the DJ to check the microphone level with you before the meal, not when you stand up to speak.
