Tim Daymond, Tinsel Tim

I wrote this mobile disco party guide for anyone booking a DJ for the first time. I’m Tim Daymond, known on stage as Tinsel Tim, and 2026 marks my fiftieth year as a DJ.

A good mobile disco turns any room into a proper party, from a marquee to a riverboat. So below, I explain what a mobile disco includes, how booking works and what it costs. Then you can plan your celebration with confidence.

A Quick Guide to What a Mobile Disco Party Includes

A mobile disco is far more than a speaker and a playlist. For example, every package with me includes these things:

  • Professional sound and lighting, matched to the size of your room.
  • A radio microphone for announcements, toasts and speeches.
  • MC duties, from welcoming guests to calling the last dance.
  • Live song requests, which guests send from their phones by QR code.
  • Clean versions, because my software removes swearing during playback.
  • Your own playlist, with must-plays and do-not-plays in your online portal.

I also offer an optional Sensory-Friendly Disco Mode at no extra cost. It softens flashing lights and creates quieter volume zones for guests who need them. In short, the whole room can enjoy the night.

Step-by-Step Guide to Booking a Mobile Disco Party

  1. Check your date. Use my availability checker, or call me.
  2. Receive your proposal. I usually reply within two to three hours during business hours.
  3. Secure your date. A 45% deposit by card or bank transfer locks it in.
  4. Plan your music. Build your playlist in the portal, then we talk it through.
  5. Enjoy the party. I arrive early, set up quietly and start on time.

The balance is due four weeks before your event, and monthly payment plans are available. Want to know what to ask first? Then read my tips before you book a DJ.
