Questions
Anniversary Gift Finder: common questions
Are these the UK or US anniversary gifts?
They are the UK traditional gifts. The US also has a modern list, such as clocks for the first anniversary, which is rarely used here. Where UK sources differ, the common alternative is shown in brackets, such as linen or fruit and flowers for the 4th.
What is the gift for the 16th to 19th anniversaries?
There is no traditional theme for some years, including the 16th to 19th and 21st to 24th. Choose anything that means something to you both, such as a meal out where you got engaged or a framed wedding photo.
Which anniversaries are the big ones?
The 25th is silver, the 30th pearl, the 40th ruby, the 50th gold and the 60th diamond. These are the ones most couples mark with a party, often with music from the year they married.
Can we get a message from the King?
Yes. Couples celebrating their 60th, 65th and 70th wedding anniversaries, and every year after the 70th, can apply for an anniversary message from the King through the Anniversaries Office.
Tim’s tip
For a ruby or golden anniversary party, I always ask for the couple's wedding song and the year they married. Playing the hits from that year gets every generation on the dance floor.
